About The Lecturer
Venecia Margarita is the Supervisor for Family Court Services for San Francisco Superior Court. She has been the Supervisor for Family Court Services since August 2025 and she has been a Family Court Mediator for the last ten years. She has more than thirty years of experience working with children and families as a social worker, counselor, mediator, and community advocate. Previously, she worked as an Emergency Response Social Worker for Child Protective Services for ten years for San Mateo County. Ms. Margarita also worked as a Long-Term Placement Social Worker with foster youth for three years. She has more than eight years of experience working in a Residential setting for youth including three years at Canyon Oaks Youth Center, a level 14 Residential Facility. Ms. Margarita also worked for Huckleberry Youth Programs for five years as a Residential Counselor at the homeless youth shelter, Huckleberry House. She has volunteered with Circulo de Vida for more than twenty years serving children and youth and providing them individual counseling and group counseling when a parent becomes terminally ill. She has received several recognitions and awards including the Danny Keenan Award for her direct service work with homeless youth in San Francisco and the greater bay area. Ms. Margarita holds a Master of Social Work Degree, a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, and a bachelor’s degree in Raza Studies/Latina/Latino Studies all from San Francisco State University.
