About The Lecturer
Steve Moawad joined the State Bar of California in 2017. Steve initially served in the Office of Chief Trial Counsel, including as Chief Trial Counsel, and now heads the Division of Regulation at the State Bar. Prior to joining the Bar, Steve was a deputy district attorney in Contra Costa County, California, for nearly twenty years, spending the last five as the Senior Deputy District Attorney in charge of the Special Operations Division, including the consumer and environmental protection units, auto and workers’ compensation insurance fraud units, real estate fraud, and public corruption. Steve received his law degree from the University of San Francisco and his undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego. Steve also has an MBA from St. Mary’s College of California. Steve was a board member of the National Organization of Bar Counsel, the organization of attorney regulators, from 2019–2024, serving as President from 2022-2023.
